WIRA Welcomes Rogers Television

Thanks to Rogers Television, WIRA is taking a big step forward in raising the level of community awareness as to whom we are, what we do, and the vital importance of drowning prevention and water incident research in Canada .

Rogers believes in local matters. This is why Rogers Television strives to be the leading provider of screen-based local information and entertainment. Every year Rogers ' stations produce over 19,000 hours of informative local programming, involving over 12,000 community groups. Each one of the 31 Rogers Television stations operating in Ontario , New Brunswick and Newfoundland is an active and involved member of its local community, providing timely and relevant programs about local matters.

Through this new partnership WIRA will be able to dramatically increase our presence in these communities, promoting awareness regarding drowning prevention research, promoting upcoming events and much more. Some of the highlights of our new partnership include national website promotion, appearances on daytime , promotional stories on First Local, and a feature story on Simcoe Living.

We are especially excited about Rogers ' commitment to producing five, one-minute vignettes. The first vignette will be a generic WIRA awareness campaign, with pre-production work already underway. This will be followed by four vignettes, each with a specific theme. We will be working with other partner organizations where appropriate, to include relevant prevention messaging. These vignettes will, in some weeks, see in excess of 60 – 80 appearances. Look for the first vignette to start appearing in mid-November.

We would like to thank the entire team at Rogers Television Simcoe-Grey for recognizing the contributions of WIRA and taking the steps to make this partnership come to fruition. We look forward to a long and rewarding partnership.
